Shirley from Sew Original in Winston Salem sends this message…
“Sew Original is soooo excited to be one of your vendors at The Statesville Fall Quilting Marketplace on September 17th and 18th, 2021. We will have many wonderful goodies to offer you – fabrics, quilt kits, patterns, books and notions. We will have author Lee Monroe in our booth signing her first book, Jump Into Sewing.
As we are a Bernina dealers, both Sew Original and Studio Stitch will feature a wide range of Bernina’s for you to play with in our booths. We sell the full range of Bernina machines from the Bernettes to the Bernina Longarm machines. September’s Promotion is Bernina’s Trade-In Event. You can trade-in ANY machine for a new Bernina sewing, quilting, embroidery, or serving machine priced $999.00 up and get 25% off MSRP. We are so excited to be participating but even more excited to see all of you.”
Martha from The Cotton Quit sends this message…
“We are very excited to see you in Statesville in September!! We will have many of the latest Christmas collections available for you along with the Caterpillar Light Boxes and the Featherweight Extension Tables. Come see us there.”
Shay and Shawn from Schoolhouse Quilts send this message…
“Schoolhouse Quilts offers an extensive selection of quilting notions, from rulers and templates, cutting mats and rotary cutters; scissors; machine and hand needles, thimbles, pins, and threaders: sewing machine accessories; marking tools; irons and pressing aides; paper piecing supplies; gloves; and stencils. We also offer quilting books, novels, and reference guides by over 1000 authors.”
Also, one of our favorite vendors, Momma’s Kitchen Sweets, (Dorcas Troyer) will be there with her breads and baked goodies. 220 Cafe will also be onsite for delicious food. This event means so much to all the vendors. It’s been a long year for every business. We are thankful to have the opportunity to see you again.
What am I working on? Last week, I shared this vintage (2009) piece of Alexander Henry halloween fabric.
I started cutting. The ruler I’m using is fast2cut 45 degree Diamond Guide by Jan Krentz. I looked briefly, but I can find it for sale anywhere. Maybe you will have better luck.
I carefully stacked up the fabric 8 layers deep, and cut out 8 diamonds at one time.
Here’s the first block. I’ll share more next week.
September Quilting Class
Above is the class sample for our next class. We have named this one Shooting Star. Dates are Friday, September 24 or Saturday, September 25, 2021. Traditional piecing techniques will be covered. Make this quilt scrappy or planned. It’s a great quilt to use a lot of fabrics from your stash. I used a lot of background fabrics, all mixed and matched. The more variety the better.
Class fee is $38.00. Class fee will include a handout.
Class starts at 10 am and finishes about 4 pm. The classes will be held at Cool Spring Methodist Church, 1902 Mocksville Rd, Cleveland, NC—that is Hwy. 64 about 8 miles East of Statesville, and is easily accessible from either I-77 or I-40. As you know, eating lunch is an important part of the day. Bring a sandwich or a covered dish and we’ll provide sides, chips, desert and tea. There is always plenty to share.
To register for the class, call Cindy Page, 704-376-2531 to reserve your space, then mail checks payable to The Quilter’s Gallery to 224 Woodleaf Road, Cleveland, NC 27013. This class is $38.00. Payment is required at the time of registration to hold your space in the class. A supply list/cutting instructions and directions to the venue will be emailed to you upon registration.
Bring something for “show and tell”. If you need a tractor trailer truck to get all your quilts here, that will be fine. We will start the class “Show and Tell” at 1:30ish. Everyone is invited to the class “Show and Tell” whether you are taking the class or not. You might want to squeeze in a little shopping time as well.
We will not have any classes in October or November because of the All Carolina’s Shop Hop. Our next class will be in February, 2022.
We will do some more “Show and Tell” events during our classes and during the All Carolina Shop Hop dates in the fall. (It will be cool enough to be outside by then.)
Call or text Cindy – 704-376-2531 if you would like to order anything, or make an appointment to shop. Taxes and shipping will be added to orders. Remember, we do not have a shopping cart on our website. If you need us for anything, call and make a shopping appointment.
Small Shops
I love small shops. I am not a fan of big box stores. I love that someone has the guts to go out and take a chance and work hard. Last week, our shout out was for Renfro Hardware in Matthews. This week is one of my picks, Ford’s Seed Store in Gastonia, NC. 704-866-7058. Located at 231 E. Main and 258 E. Main, one store is gifts and plants. The other store is seeds, supplies and a fabulous greenhouse with African violets, begonias, etc. This is where I get my daffodil bulbs every year. They ought to be in stock pretty soon. They opened in 1920. They know all about gardening, bird feeders, and plants.
Do you know of any unique shops in your town? Where do you love to shop? Or eat? It doesn’t have to be a quilt shop. Maybe it’s a really great dress shop or a gift store. Let me know. Cindy and I might take a road trip. Email me at [email protected].
Shopping Time
You can always make an appointment to shop in the barn for any time that suits you by calling Cindy at the number above. We’re available almost any time. We would love to see you. Call us if you need directions. We are located off I-40 between Statesville and Mocksville, NC.
Guild Programs
Keep us in mind for programs for your quilting guild now that groups are starting to meet again.
If you would like a full size copy of these bookmarks to print for your guild, please email me at [email protected].
Raffle Quilts
Let me say a little bit about raffle quilts….We are not having any raffle quilts at the September show. We are trying to keep things as simple as possible. You know what’s going on. You’ve been watching the news. However, if you want to be considered for a space in January, either in Statesville or Sanford, please send an email request to [email protected]. Everyone wants a space. We are going to get all the requests and then do a drawing. That is the fairest way to decide which guild gets a spot.
So far, I have requests from Cabarrus, Salisbury, Forsyth, Raleigh, Lincolnton, Mooresville Applique, Piedmont, and Kernersville. If your guild would like to be considered, please let me know by the end of September.
All Carolina’s Shop Hop
One last thing, something new is coming this fall. During the months of October and November, we will be participating in the ALL CAROLINA’S SHOP HOP. This will incorporate shops all over NC and SC. Look for the page on Facebook. We will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday during October and November. (Except the weekend of November 14, {we have a family wedding!} and Thanksgiving Day).
We just got our magazines! This magazine is your passport to the “Shop Hop”. $9.95. It lists all the participating shops and has patterns as well. You will take it from shop to shop and get your “stamps” so you can win prizes. Participating shops will have them for sale at the Statesville show.
Show and Tell Photos
Here are a few pictures from our class this past weekend. We love to see your quilts. I don’t know all the names, so just enjoy the show.
One of the BQ quilt patterns.
Another of the BQ patterns.
And another BQ pattern.
One of Pattie B’s masterpieces.
Cracked Pots from Miss Rosie’s book, Farmhouse Quilts.
Designer’s Workshop’s pattern, Hollihocks.
They will be at the Fall show in Statesville.
Call Cindy – 704-376-2531 if you would like to order anything or make an appointment to shop.
