Oct.18, 2021 Newsletter Magic Lantern Quilt Free demos this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at “The Barn”. 10:30ish. Simple to make if you have a 60 degree ruler. Details below. Hello Everyone, All Carolina’s Shop Hop The All Carolina’s Shop Hop is keeping us busy. If I told you that we were surprised by the response, that would be an understatement! After being locked away for the past year, we were happy to see so many people. Many of you are surprised to find a quilt shop down a dirt road. We’ll be open this Thursday, Friday, Saturday, from 10am – 4pm and this Sunday, October 24 from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. Featherweight Poppy will be here this Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021 as our guest vendor. Stop by and take a look. Santa might need to come a little early this year. For those of you that have never participated in a shop hop, let me explain how it works… You get a couple of your friends and you travel from shop to shop. At each shop you get a “stamp” on your passport and each shop will give you a free 4″ collectable quilt block with a unique “quilty” phrase printed on it. You will need to purchase the Shop Hop magazine to get a passport. These magazines are available at each shop. We still have plenty of magazines available. Each participant needs a passport. You have 2 months to visit all the shops. This shop hop includes shops all over North and South Carolina. At the end of November, you will mail in your passports. The more stamps you have, the more chances you have to win some great prizes. Many of you are posting pictures from each shop you visit on Facebook. Search for All Carolina’s Shop Hop to see what everyone is doing. It’s fun to see pictures of your favorite shop. We are planning some special guests or a special event each weekend . More about that later. What can you expect from a trip to our “barn”? First of all, it’s not really a barn. It’s a green metal building. But you really are on a farm. You do have to drive for a bit on a dirt road, but you won’t hear banjo music in the background. You will see a green building on your right as you come down the hill on Page Farm Rd. Park your car anywhere. Once inside, you will see all the fabrics that you usually see in our booth at a show. We have lots of prints, from traditional styles like mid 19th century to contemporary prints like Kaffe and Tim Holtz. We carry a wide range of batiks as well. We always stock a good variety of neutral background fabrics in cottons and batiks. We have made up a lot of new fabric packs. We have made up a lot of new quilt kits as well. We have also been going through a lot of vintage stock during our “covid time out”. We have pulled out our vintage trims and embellishments. We’ve pulled out all our buttons. All our French Heirloom laces and eyelets are organized. Plan to spend some time going through some random merchandise. We’ll have a sale table with some wools on it. There are some random things on a clearance table. We’ve priced a lot of store samples. Quilt Tops As you know, when you have a quilt shop you have to make samples. While we might like each quilt, we just can’t keep them all. We have gone through our quilt tops and priced them to sell. Most are priced a little above what the fabric would cost. I’ve pulled out more than 50 quilt tops to sell. Maybe you need a quick quilt. If it’s not quite the right size, you can always add another border. Now is the time to get it to your long arm quilter so it can be under your Christmas tree. Take a look when you are here. Many of you have asked to see pictures of the quilt tops. Here are a few pictures. I’ll post more next week. Give us a call if you are interested in anything. Double Irish Chain – 66″ x 66″ $99.00 inc. backing fabric. Multi-color Kaleidoscope 70″ x 70″ – $150 Blue Kaleidoscope 70″ x 70″ – $150 3-6-9 Fish Version 46′ x 63″ – $85.00 3-6-9 Snowman Version 80″ x 96″ – $295.00 inc. backing and binding fabric. Christmas Version of Habitat 84″ x 84″ – $200.00 Batik Version of Habitat 84″ x 84″ – $200.00 Blue and Yellow 1000 Pyramids 60″ x 82″ – $135.00 Batik Version of Straight Out of Line 66′ x 80″ – $150.00 Mid 19th Century Version of Scarlet Begonia 78″ x 90″ – $195.00 Magic block sample 48″ x 48″ – $59.00 Shop Hop Hours We will have regular hours at “The Barn” during the shop hop. We will be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am – 4pm during October and November. This week we have things we are obligated to, so we will just be here on Th., Fri. and Sat. We will also be open on two Sunday afternoons, October 24 and November 21 from 12:00-4:00 pm. You don’t have to be participating in the shop hop to come to the barn. Other participating shops are open their own regular hours. Check your passport magazine for information about hours of operation for the other shops. What should you do if you are traveling on a day we aren’t open? Give us a call, and if it is at all possible, we’ll make an appointment for you to stop by, shop a bit, and pick up your stamp and collectable block. We are usually close by. (We just need a little flexibility.) You can make an appointment to shop in the barn by calling/texting Cindy at 704-376-2531. Or call/text Patti at 704-807-6992. Try both numbers. I live in a house with a metal roof, so my reception is limited. We’re available almost any time. We would love to see you. Call us if you need directions. We are located off I-40 between Statesville and Mocksville, NC. Please note: We will be closed on Saturday, November 13, 2021 for a wedding. We will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. (Unless you want to stop by with a turkey.) Extra Events I can’t just leave things alone. We are trying to plan some extras to make each weekend an event. (3 1/2″ including the seam allowance) We have the pattern and the hex and triangle templates available. Guild Programs Keep us in mind for programs for your quilting guild now that groups are starting to meet again.
