This is Connie and Del. Del was the winner of our our door prize sewing machine drawing.
He was excited to win but I think Connie is even more excited. Congratulations to them.
Hello Everyone,
All work and no play make Cindy and Patti very dull girls. This is Asheville week! Today we drove to Asheville to drop off our quilts for the show. Cindy took her Jack’s Chain and I took my wonky houses quilt. It was a beautiful day with perfect weather. We had lunch out at Sierra Nevada. We enjoyed our food and walking around in the garden.
Then we went to Discount Shoes out on Brevard Rd. If you don’t know about this place, put a visit on your agenda. I got some work boots and some cheeta rain shoes.
We hit a couple of antique shops and then headed home.
Remember, we will be closed this week for the Asheville quilt show.
Tomorrow we will pack the van. We have lots of new fabrics and packs. Wednesday we will take the dogs to the kennel and drive to Asheville. Thursday is set up day. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are show days. Monday we will unload and put everything back where it belongs.
The All Carolina’s Shop Hop continues this week. Some days have been busy. Some days have been slow. We have spent our time making new packs. Lots of batiks and new Kaffe fabrics have arrived.
Don’t forget – we will be cleaning out a lot of clearance stuff, so shop early for the best deals. We are pulling out all our buttons and some really nice garment fabrics. We have set up “yard sale area”.
Trims are $1.00 per yard. Fabrics – several linens, silks and woolens are $5.00 per yard.
Shop Hop Facts – We are located at 186 Page Farm Rd., Cleveland, NC. Yes, it really is on a farm. We will be open from 10am – 4 pm, Tuesday – Saturday.
WE WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAYS.
We need one day to get our errands taken care of.
Please note special hours during the Asheville and the Hickory quilt shows.
Quilt Shows

November Class
Our November class is going to be “Boot Camp”.
Dates are November 4 or 5, 2022.
As we travel around and teach various workshops, we see a lot of you struggling with “the basics”.
This classwill cover fabric prep, fabric grain line, getting an accurate 1/4″ seam, 1/2 square triangles, flying geese, mitered corners and a few other things. The class will be $55.00. This will include your handouts and all the precut fabrics for your sample construction. You will need your machine, a 1/4″ presser foot, rotary cutter, mat and basic sewing supplies.
Let’s talk a bit about your 1/4″ foot. So many of you struggle with an accurate seam allowance. A lot of you have a 1/4″ foot with a side blade. Please understand that that foot is for sewing “jelly rolls” or long strips of fabric. It is not designed for precision piecing. That side blade gets in the way when you need to pin things or sew over “dog ears”. Sometimes you need to draw a line and sew on either side of the line. A foot with a guide will not let you do that. For precision work, you need a 1/4″ foot without a guide. Most of you have small travel machines. Most of these machines are “low shank”. Ask your dealer or look on the internet for a general purpose 1/4″ foot. They should be less than $20.
If you have a Bernina, your #37 foot or your #97 foot is perfect.
Don’t let your dealer tell you, “Oh, you just need to move your needle position.” You need a foot with an accurate measurement. It will make your sewing SOOOO much easier.
