Hello Quilters,
Happy Easter everyone! We hope you get lots of chocolate bunnies.
Look at Cindy’s quilt! She was one of our beginners in the last class. She wowed us with her bags during “show and tell”. We are so proud of her for finishing her top in the class.
Hello Everyone,
We have had a little time off this week. You know what that means, laundry and yard work. I pulled up at least 4 wheelbarrow loads of weeds. There’s least that many more loads of weeds to pull. I’ve also been working on tomato plants for the plant sale in May. (May 5 & 6)
Recipes
Everyone enjoyed the recipes at Christmas.
Most of these recipes are from my Grandma’s church cookbook from the 1960s.
Everlasting Biscuits
Maybe you have family coming for Easter lunch. This is my mom’s yeast roll recipe.
1/2 cup of mashed potatoes
2 c. milk, scald then cool
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 c. melted butter
1 pkg. dry yeast
4 to 4 1/2 cups of all purpose flour, or more if needed.
Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup of lukewarm water. While milk is warm, add butter, potatoes, sugar, salt, baking powder and soda. Mix together. When cool, add yeast and stir in 2 1/2 cups of flour. Let rise until light. Then work in 1 1/2 cups of flour to make the consistency of biscuits. Roll out as for biscuits 1 1/2 to 2 hours before baking. Let rise and bake in 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
If you need to make these ahead of time – put them the refrigerator after all the flour has been added. Remove and make into rolls about 2 hours before baking.
Classes
We will not have any classes in April or May or June due to scheduling issues with Easter, Church Yardsale and quilt shows. Our July class will be July 21 or 22, 2023. It will be another stash buster quilt.
