Kaleidoscope is our November class.  This traditional pattern has lots of possibilities.  It looks like curves but all the sewing is straight lines.  Take a look at all the photos below.

Hello Quilters,
Where is the world have Cindy and Patti been?  We spent a week in Myrtle Beach.  First with the Coastal Carolina Guild, (thanks for a great time!) and the rest of the week with the Quilter’s of SC.  We had a little free time and went out to Brookgreen Gardens.  It was a lovely walk.  They were putting up the lights for the Christmas season.  It must be septcular when everything is glowing with colorful lights.
Since then we’ve been to Greensboro for a Jack’s Chain workshop and to Seneca for a Curves workshop.  We are headed to Durham this weekend for a Kaleidoscope workshop.

New Fabric
27 bolts of new French General just arrived.  I’m more excited than when Santa arrives.  I love the reds, the old pinks, the off whites and that greenish taupe color.  It really gives things an antique look.

Give us a call if you need to come shop.

Old Recipes
My family makes fun of my cooking.  I have had my share of spectacular failures.  We all laugh that I cook something and keep eating it and reheating it until is is unrecognizable gruel.  Imagine my surprise when I found out that there were actually gruel recipes!! I’ve been validated.  These are from the 1040s edition of the Rumford Complete Cookbook.  Enjoy!

Does anyone know what Irish moss would be?  I’ve made a lot of stuff that was an icky green color.
Now I know what to call it.

November Activities

Kaleidoscope will our class in November.  Dates will be November 15 or 16, 2024.
Cindy will cover basic construction and the possibilities of “stacked” cutting.

This is one of those quilts that you can make over and over.  It will look different every time.

It’s not too late to sign up.  Just bring your machine and basic sewing supplies.

Class is $38.00. (Includes one precut sample block) This is very easy block.  It looks complicated, but when we break it down it is all straight lines. Rulers and books will be available in class if you want one. Cindy will have several sample blocks precut so that you can jump right into the techniques.  In the afternoon, she will demo “stacked cutting” for a kaleidoscope effect.  This ruler and book are out of print.  Once our inventory is gone, it’s gone.  Don’t miss this opportunity.Class starts at 10am.  Plan to arrive in time to set up and get a cup of coffee.  We will finish by 4pm.
Class location is Cool Spring Community Church, 1902 Mocksville Hwy, Cleveland, NC.  That’s about 8 miles east of Statesville.  It’s easily accessible from I-77 or I-40.

Farm News

Runningtbeef.com

Most of you know that Cindy and I live on a farm that has been in our family for 5 generations.  We don’t know the first thing about a tractor but we know a good thing when we see it.  Josh and Brandi Teague are using our farm to raise locally grown 100% Grass Fed Beef.  This is the way farming should be done.  They don’t use antibiotics or hormones.  Pasture are regenerating under their watchful eye.
They ship beef all over the US.  Check out their website, or find them on Facebook or Utube.

Call Cindy – 704-376-2531 if you would like to order anything.
As most of you know, we are not a brick and mortar shop.  We are just a studio.

We are available by appointment.  Call us if you need directions.  We are located off I-40 between
Statesville and Mocksville, NC.
Our address is 186 Page Farm Road, Cleveland, NC  27013.
We are not anywhere close to Cleveland, NC, even though that is our mailing address.
