Hello Quilters,
Where in the world have Cindy and Patti been? August was actually pretty quiet. It’s always nice to catch up a little. I conquered a few weeds and spider webs, but there are still plenty left.
We visited Florence and did our Antique Textiles program for them.
September is all about the Asheville Quilt Show. New fabrics are arriving all the time. We are busy cutting and making fabric packs. Lots of new batiks have arrived and I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of new French General fabrics sometime this week. Cindy and I each have a quilt to enter. We don’t enter for a ribbon but it’s just nice to get something COMPLETELY finished with binding, casing and a label. I have a few more stitching details to take care of. Mark your calendar and make plans to attend this show.
Recipes
Everyone enjoyed the recipes at Christmas time. Most of these recipes come from a 1960’s church cookbook. I have presented just as they are written. Feel free to update things for today’s tastes.
I try to walk everyday. I’ve noticed the persimmons are starting to fall. Here is mom’s persimmon pudding recipe. Making the pudding is not hard but picking up the persimmons and making the pulp is definitely a labor of love. This is one of those recipes that come from the “don’t let anything go to waste” school of thought.
Persimmon Pudding
3 cups of Persimmon pulp
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1 cup self rising flour
2 eggs
1 stick butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
Mix persimmon pulp, sugar and melted butter. Beat well. Add eggs and beat. Then add milk and sifted dry ingredients. Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes.

Many of you know that Cindy and I live in the country. We are the 5th generation to live on this farm Just recently, due to heath issues, our cousins that ran the farm decided to retire. We are pleased to announce that Running T Beef will be expanding onto our farm.
\
This is Josh, Brandi, Wes and Will.
Running T is the new way to farm. They raise grass fed beef. We are excited about the improvements that they will make to our farm. This is farming the way it is supposed to be done.
They are currently taking orders for their Fall beef deliveries. Take a look at their website if you are thinking about beef for this fall/winter. They are taking orders now for beef to be ready by fall. It’s a little different from just running to the grocery store when you need something, but it’s worth the extra effort and planning.
