Hello Quilters,
We are home this week.  Cindy will be teaching Alaska.  Join us for class or just some shopping.

Hello Quilters,
Where in the world are Cindy and Patti?
We had a great time in Charleston.  The quilt show was inspiring.  We came home with lots of good ideas.
This week, we are home.  Cindy is getting ready for her “Alaska” class this Friday or Saturday.  It’s not too late to sign up.

Recipes
Since it is Easter week, I thought my grandmother Page’s
Scripture Cake might be appropriate.
1 c.  Judges 5:25, last clause (butter)
2 c. Jeremiah 6:20 (sugar)
2 tsp. 1 Samuel 14:25, last clause (honey)
6 Jeremiah 17:11 (eggs)
1/2 c. Judges 4:19, last clause (milk)
4 1/2 c. 1 Kings 4:22 (flour)
2 tsp. Amos 4:5 (baking powder)
1 c. 1 Samuel 30:12 (raisins)
1 c. Nahum 3:12 (figs) or substitute dates.
11 Chronicles 9:9, second phrase, (spices) to taste.
Cream together butter, sugar and honey.  Beat eggs until frothy.  Add milk to eggs and add to creamed mixture and beat throughly.  Sift together flour and baking powder and add to creamed mixture.  Chop raisins and figs and add;  then add spices as desired.  Bake in 375 degree oven in a greased tube pan for about 30 minutes.
April Schedule
Alaska is our class for April.
Friday, April 5 or Saturday, April 6, 2024
Class is $38.00 plus pattern ($25) and templates ($25)
Contact us if you need a kit.

Alaska is a popular pattern by Edita Sitar. It’s a variation of a kaleidoscope block.  This project looks like curves but it’s all straight line sewing so it’s appropriate for all skill levels, including confident beginners.  Cindy will have a practice block cut for everybody so you can learn the piecing process without having to do a lot of preparation before class.
REMEMBER TO BRING SOMETHING FOR
“SHOW AND TELL”.

Class starts at 10 am and finishes about 4 pm but we’ll have the building open at 9:00 am so plan to arrive in time to have a cup of coffee and set up so we’ll be ready to start at 10:00 am.  The class will be held at Cool Spring Community Church, 1902 Mocksville Rd, Cleveland, NC—that is Hwy. 64 about 8 miles East of Statesville, and is easily accessible from either I-77 or I-40.

As you know, eating lunch is an important part of the day.  Bring a sandwich, or your favorite recipe, and we’ll provide sides, chips, desert and tea.  Quilters are good cooks too so there is always plenty to share.

To register for the class, call or text Cindy Page,
704-376-2531 to reserve your space, then mail checks payable to The Quilter’s Gallery to 224 Woodleaf Road, Cleveland, NC 27013.   Payment is required at the time of registration to hold your space in the class. A supply list with directions to the venue will be emailed to you upon registration.

Also, bring some device that will take photographs of each step of the process.Guild Activity

May Schedule
There are no classes scheduled in May.
May 3 and 4, 2024 is our
Church Yard Sale and Plant Sale.
If you love a bargain or a tomato plant,
then save these dates.

This is a project that Cindy and I, along with the rest of our church, take very seriously each year.  All the proceeds go to college scholarships for high schoolers in our community.
Would you like to donate items? We are always looking for nice household items.  We will be at the church accepting items on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 from 9am – 2pm.  We will accept almost anything.  We always need kitchen items, towels, sheets, (sheets – it helps if you label what size)  luggage and holiday decor.  We love men’s stuff – screwdrivers, tools, and rusty stuff for decor.  People are also looking for small furniture.  Keep in mind, we don’t have a lot of help to move large pieces of furniture.
The only things we don’t take are outdated electronics and exercise equipment. (Even though the exercise equipment will be “like new”.)
Our early morning clientele will be dealers looking for things to resell.  Mid morning, will be people looking for a bargain and later morning will be people that NEED household things – pots to cook in.  Sheets and towels. Shoes and men’s boots. Winter coats.  If you can donate anything, we will be very appreciative.

Farm News

Runningtbeef.com

Most of you know that Cindy and I live on a farm that has been in our family for 5 generations.  We don’t know the first thing about a tractor but we know a good thing when we see it.  Josh and Brandi Teague are using our farm to raise locally grown 100% Grass Fed Beef.  This is the way farming should be done.  They don’t use antibiotics or hormones.  Pasture are regenerating under their watchful eye.
They ship beef all over the US.  Check out their website, or find them on Facebook or Utube.

Donkey News

Bray Ya’ll,
It’s Lady Mary.  Wilbur and I had a great Saint Patrick’s Day.  We love anything green, so we had all the grass we wanted.  We hope you are getting a lot of sewing done.  Easter will be here soon.  I gotta scoot – Momma is taking me shopping for an Easter bonnet.
Stay turned.  OXOX – Lady Mary
