Hello Quilters,
We just have a couple of jobs this week.  On Wednesday, we are cooking for church supper.  We are fixing ribs, grilled chicken, mac and cheese and a big salad.  Everyone else brings tea and desert.  Aren’t those the four food groups in the South? Meat, starch, sweet tea and desert?
On Thursday, we are doing a quilt guild program in Asheboro, NC.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Piecing Curves is our next class.Hello Everyone,

We’ve had a busy 2 weeks, but if you asked me what I’ve accomplished, I’m not sure what I would tell you.  We have worked on plants for the upcoming plant sale at church.  I have little spindly tomato plants all over my house.  I have pulled out overgrown succulents and started potting them for sale.
We had a good time in Heath Springs, SC on Saturday.  We did a Curves workshop for them.  We spent the day with a nice group of ladies.
We had a family birthday lunch at Mom’s yesterday.  All 12 of us were here.  Mom had a big time with her great-grand daughters.

April Class in Cool Spring

Our April class is going to be Curves. Dates are April 15 or 16, 2022.
Piecing curves opens up a whole range of new design options.
You can make something traditional and scrappy like this Love Ring.

You can do something modern like this Rainbow Curves.

This one, Curves and Corners, combines simple 1/2 squares and vibrant curves.
Class will be $40.  That will include 2 precut sample blocks for practice and handouts.  Templates for curves are available at class.  Our favorite template, 8″ Rainbow Curves is $24.95.

For this quilt, we cut up some orphan blocks and repurposed them.

This one is just for fun.  What little girl wouldn’t love this?  Don’t be scared of curves.
Think about it this way – you are making an 8 inch block with one seam!  It’s so fast.

It a great quilt to use that crazy fat quarter pack that you bought years ago.

Piecing curves opens up a whole new world of design possibilities.

To register for the class, call or text Cindy at 704-376-2531.  Classes are held at Cool Spring UMC.         1902 Mocksville Highway, Cleveland, NC 27013.  That’s about 6 miles east of Statesville on Hwy. 64.
Cindy will send a supply list when you register.

The church is easily accessible from I-40 or I-77.

Class will be from 10 am-4 pm but we have the church open by 9 am so you can get set up and have a cup of coffee before we begin at 10 am.
As you know, eating lunch is an important part of the day.  Bring a sandwich or a casserole and we’ll provide sides, chips, desert and tea.

Be sure to bring your “show and tell” quilts. We love to see what you are working on.

Once you are registered, mail a check payable to The Quilter’s Gallery to 224 Woodleaf Road, Cleveland, NC  27013.  Payment is required at the time of registration to hold your space in the class.

May Dates

May Class dates are May 27 and 28, 2022.

We are going to make this Feathered Star block. I love the way a Feathered Star looks.
This one is pretty simple.  We will cover 1/2 squares, 1/4 squares and flippy corners.

Here is another version of this block, featuring some French General fabrics.
Class will be $38 and include handouts.

Here is the whole quilt.

We are available by appointment.  As things start to open up, we’ll be in and out.  Call us if you need directions.  We are located off I-40 between Statesville and Mocksville, NC. Our address is 186 Page Farm Road, Cleveland, NC  27013. We are not anywhere close to Cleveland, NC, even though that is our mailing address.
Here are some other quilt shows to add to your calendar.  We will not be vending at these shows, but I know you will enjoy them.

Yard Sale

As we have told you, we are working on our annual yard sale at the church.  The dates are May 6 and 7, 2022.  The location is Cool Spring UMC, 1902 Mocksville Highway, Cleveland, NC.  I have 3 big storage units that have been donated.  They are the white laminate style with two doors.  They are almost 6 feet tall and 30 inches wide.  They are $75 each.  They will hold a lot of fabric.  Give me a call if you are interested.  They are available now.  You don’t need to wait for the sale.

Wilbur says “I love basketball.”
Congratulations to the USC women’s team.
I’m going to go take a nap, so I can stay awake long enough to watch the NCAA basketball finals tonight.

Spend the day shopping for quilting fabrics, yarns for knitting, and wools for appliqué.  Books, patterns and notions will inspire you to create.  Shop for a new sewing machine or a long arm sewing machine.  Our vendors are quilt shops and knitting shops.  Some vendors dye their own fabrics and some “grow” their own yarns on their farms.  Some vendors design their own patterns and some just know where to order the “best stuff”.
There will be hourly door prizes and each day at 3pm, Sew Original from Winston Salem and Studio Stitch from Greensboro will be giving away a Bernina Sewing machine.  (You must be present to win a machine.)  Arrive early.  Be one of the first 100 people in the door, and you will get an extra ticket to win all day long.
Cafe 220 will be there with their fabulous food and Troyer’s Bakery will have delicious baked goods.
