Hello Quilters,
We have lots to do in August.  A new class and several guild events are scheduled.

Star Chain is our class in August

Hello Everyone,
August is going to be busy.  We have several guild events planned, so we hope to see many of you.  We will be in High Point, Salisbury, Shelby and Lake Norman.
We did something this week that we haven’t done in a while…WE ORDERED FABRIC.  If it gets here on time, it will arrive in February.  I wish I had good news, but like so many industries, everything is behind and when it does arrive, everything is costing more.  Shipping costs are adding up. The new fabrics are beautiful.  We can’t wait for you to see them.  New fabrics mixed with some fabrics from your stash always make a great quilt.

Quilting Class this Month

Above is the class sample for our next class.  We have named this one Star Chain. Dates are Friday, August 20 OR Saturday, August 21, 2021. Traditional piecing techniques will be covered.  Make this quilt scrappy or planned. This can be a two color quilt, as shown, or pick out a multicolor border and do the interior in bright, scrappy colors.  The sample is 2 colors but I used 12 different brown prints of the same value. Some had subtle prints with additional colors (red flowers/geometrics). The background is all one fabric but you could use several fabrics of the same value. All the star points are the same fabric.
We have a Star Chain kit available.  Kit includes all the fabrics for the quilt top, the printed border, as shown, and fabric for binding.  98″ X 98″, $159.00.  As noted below, if you order this week we are offering free shipping.

Class fee is $38.00. Class fee will include a handout.
Class starts at 10 am and finishes about 4 pm.  The classes will be held at Cool Spring Methodist Church, 1902 Mocksville Rd, Cleveland, NC—that is Hwy. 64 about 8 miles East of Statesville, and is easily accessible from either I-77 or I-40. As you know, eating lunch is an important part of the day.  Bring a sandwich or a covered dish and we’ll provide sides, chips, desert and tea.  There is always plenty to share.

To register for the class, call Cindy Page, 704-376-2531 to reserve your space, then mail checks payable to The Quilter’s Gallery to 224 Woodleaf Road, Cleveland, NC 27013. This class is $38.00.  Payment is required at the time of registration to hold your space in the class. A supply list/cutting instructions and directions to the venue will be emailed to you upon registration.

Bring something for “show and tell”. If you need a tractor trailer truck to get all your quilts here, that will be fine. We will start the class “Show and Tell” at 1:30ish.  Everyone is invited to the class “Show and Tell” whether you are taking the class or not.  You might want to squeeze in a little shopping time as well.

We will do some more “Show and Tell” events during our classes and during the All Carolina Shop Hop dates in the fall.  (It will be cool enough to be outside by then.)

Small Shops

I love small shops like Mary Mae’s, in Spencer where we took our barn quilt painting class.  I love that someone has the guts to go out and take a chance and work hard. Do you know of any unique shops in your town?  Where do you love to shop?  Or eat? Let me know.  Cindy and I might take a road trip.  Email me at [email protected].

Shopping Time

You can always make an appointment to shop in the barn for any time that suits you by calling Cindy at 704-376-2531.  We’re available almost any time. We would love to see you.  Call us if you need directions.  We are located off I-40 between Statesville and Mocksville, NC.

You won’t need to print a coupon to get your discount.  We are giving everyone the discount automatically.    Please have correct change ready.

Raffle Quilts

Let me say a little bit about raffle quilts….We are not having any raffle quilts at the September show.  We are trying to keep things as simple as possible.  You know what’s going on.  You’ve been watching the news.  However, if you want to be considered for a space in January, either in Statesville or Sanford, please let me know. Everyone wants a space.  We are going to get all the requests and then do a drawing.  That is the fairest way to decide which guild gets a spot.  [email protected]

Curly and Wilbur said to say, “Hello”.
Curly is feeling much better. Both boys got pedicures this week.  Curly got a bath.  If you have never washed a donkey, you have missed some fun.

Spend the day shopping for quilting fabrics, yarns for knitting, and wools for appliqué.  Books, patterns and notions will inspire you to create.  Shop for a new sewing machine or a long arm sewing machine.  Our vendors are quilt shops and knitting shops.  Some vendors dye their own fabrics and some “grow” their own yarns on their farms.  Some vendors design their own patterns and some just know where to order the “best stuff”.
There will be hourly door prizes and each day at 3pm, Sew Original from Winston Salem and Studio Stitch from Greensboro will be giving away a Bernina Sewing machine.  (You must be present to win a machine.)  Arrive early.  Be one of the first 100 people in the door, and you will get an extra ticket to win all day long.
Cafe 220 will be there with their fabulous food and Troyer’s Bakery will have delicious baked goods.
