Hello Quilters,
We don’t have anything official planned for this week.  You know what that means…laundry, a trip to Costco, working on show stuff for January, and a little sewing time too.  This week will be gone before I know it.

Our next class is Merry and Bright.
Hello Everyone,

In the summer, we help our cousin John on his blueberry farm.  Blueberries will be in season for the month of July, assuming we get some rain.  You can pick your own, or we can pick them for you and you can pick them up at our barn.  It’s easy to pick your own.  You don’t have to bend over.  It will take about an hour to pick a gallon. It’s a nice day in the country and most of the time there is a shady spot to pick in. We pick in the mornings, so if you need us, we will be available in the afternoons. John Knox Berry Farm is located at 458 Oak Forest Dr., Statesville, NC.  (That’s about 5 miles east of Statesville on Hwy. 64)  For more information, call John at 704.872.6115.

July Class
This is the block we are making in July.
The name of this pattern is Merry and Bright by The Pattern Basket.  $9.95.
July means two things – 4th of July or Christmas in July.
You can make this quilt in red, white and blue as shown, or make it in your favorite Christmas fabrics. The techniques we will cover are flying geese and lots of “flippy corners”.
Class dates are Friday, July 29 OR Saturday, July 30, 2022.
Class fee is $38.00 plus the pattern purchase.

This is a paste up, just to give you an idea of what the whole quilt will look like.
12 blocks as shown, would make a nice Quilt of Valor.

To register for the class, call or text Cindy at 704-376-2531.
Classes are held at Cool Spring UMC, 1902 Mocksville Hwy., Cleveland, NC 27013.
That’s about 6 miles east of Statesville on Hwy. 64.
Cindy will send a supply list when you register.

The church is easily accessible from I-40 or I-77.

Class will be from 10 am-4 pm but we have the church open by 9 am so you can get set up
and have a cup of coffee before we begin at 10 am.
As you know, eating lunch is an important part of the day.
Bring a sandwich or a casserole and we’ll provide sides, chips, desert and tea.

Be sure to bring your “show and tell” quilts. We love to see what you are working on.

Once you are registered, mail a check payable to The Quilter’s Gallery to 224 Woodleaf Road, Cleveland, NC  27013.  Payment is required at the time of registration to hold your space in the class.

August Events

Burgoyne Surrounded
Class dates for August are Friday, August 26 OR Saturday, August 27, 2022.
Burgoyne Surrounded is a traditional pattern using simple strip piecing techniques.
Skill level:  confident beginner. Class fee is $38.00 and includes a handout.

The name of this quilt refers to a battle in the American Revolution when American soldiers surrounded and forced the surrender of British General Burgoyne and his 6000 soldiers.  So many traditional quilt designs have a legend behind their names.  It’s always interesting to read about the history behind the designs.
Easy piecing.  It can be done in 2 fabrics, 2 colors and multiple fabrics or it can be multi-colored.
We do have kits available using the fabrics shown above.

Here is another version.
Cindy made it look scrappy but she actually cut her strips from an ombre fabric.

We have several guild programs and classes scheduled all over NC and SC in August. So we will be traveling quite a bit.
We hope to see you in class or at a guild event in August.

Show and Tell Pictures
Here are a few pictures from our last class “Show and Tell”.

Call Cindy – 704-376-2531 if you would like to order anything or make an appointment to shop.  As most of you know, we are not a brick and mortar shop.  We are just a studio.
We are available by appointment.   Call us if you need directions.  We are located off I-40 between Statesville and Mocksville, NC. Our address is 186 Page Farm Road, Cleveland, NC  27013. We are not anywhere close to Cleveland, NC, even though that is our mailing address.

This is Lady Mary Donkey. She finally arrived this week.  She came from the same farm that Mr. Carson came from.  He was glad to see his old friend.  She seems very happy.

Our friend Becky came to visit this weekend.  Wilbur, as usual, had to be the center of attention.
