Yard sale week is finally here. Cindy and I have been working since April, with the help of many other people to pull this event together.

Yard Sale

As we have told you, we are working on our annual yard sale at the church.  The dates are May 6 and 7, 2022.  7am – 1pm.  The location is Cool Spring UMC, 1902 Mocksville Highway, Cleveland, NC.  We will have household goods, lots of plants, like tomatoes and flowers, some clothing and baked goods.  The money we raise goes for college scholarships to area students.  Last year we awarded 3 fairly large scholarships.
I have 3 big storage units that have been donated.  They are the white laminate style with two doors.  They are almost 6 feet tall and 30 inches wide.  They are $75 each.  They will hold a lot of fabric.  Give me a call if you are interested.  704-807-6992.
This is what we have faced everyday when we went in to work…

We get some unusual things.  Who wouldn’t want these curtain tiebacks in their sewing room?

We have lots of China and other housewares.  You can buy 1 teacup and saucer or a whole set of china.  There is a lot of clear glassware if you know someone outfitting an event center.

We have a ton of Christmas stuff.  We have much more than we have ever had. If you make those wreaths out of shiny balls , you need to come stock up.  Do you need lights?  Are you making those balls with lights wrapped around them? We have boxes and boxes of lights.  We have the balls too.

Do you like vintage projects?  We have some old stuff too.  We have some sheets of old rusty tin,
old barn wood and some old wooden windows.

Hello!! Be sure and check your pocketbooks and wallets before you donate them.  This is what Cindy found in a wallet.  Luckily, we knew who donated that particular box of stuff and it was returned.

Lastly this is a micro comment on how we live.  We have 4 old fashioned shoe shine boxes, because we don’t shine our shoes anymore.  We have lots of reusable water bottles and grocery bags that have been discarded. There are lots of tablecloths. silver-plate  and candle sticks from a time when you “put on the dog” and had company.  There are lots of clothes with the tags still on them.
Join us this weekend.  It’s lots of fun.  You might find a treasure.  You might find a plant you’ve been looking for.  You might get some tomatoes or flowers to plant in your garden. You might get one of our momma’s pound cakes at the bake sale.  At the very least, you will get a beautiful ride out to the country.
It’s green out here. The view makes it worth the trip.

May Dates

May Class dates are May 27 and 28, 2022.

We are going to make this Feathered Star block. I love the way a Feathered Star looks.
This one is pretty simple.  We will cover 1/2 squares, 1/4 squares and flippy corners.

Here is another version of this block, featuring some French General fabrics.
Class will be $38 and include handouts.

To register for the class, call or text Cindy at 704-376-2531.  Classes are held at Cool Spring UMC.         1902 Mocksville Highway, Cleveland, NC 27013.  That’s about 6 miles east of Statesville on Hwy. 64.
Cindy will send a supply list when you register.

The church is easily accessible from I-40 or I-77.

Class will be from 10 am-4 pm but we have the church open by 9 am so you can get set up and have a cup of coffee before we begin at 10 am.
As you know, eating lunch is an important part of the day.  Bring a sandwich or a casserole and we’ll provide sides, chips, desert and tea.

Be sure to bring your “show and tell” quilts. We love to see what you are working on.

Once you are registered, mail a check payable to The Quilter’s Gallery to 224 Woodleaf Road, Cleveland, NC  27013.  Payment is required at the time of registration to hold your space in the class.

June Dates

Classes – We have added a Jack’s Chain class on Friday, June 3, 2022.  
Our regular class dates are June 24 and 25, 2022.  Cindy will be teaching Winner’s Bouquet.  It’s another curves class.  It is a good design to consider if you need a wedding quilt.  It has curves like a double wedding ring, but it is much simpler to piece.  Class is $38.00 and the template is $30.00.

This version has the corners dark and the centers a light color.

This version, (forgive my paste up job),has light corners and the centers are dark.
See how it gives the appearance of a ring?  It’s really pretty done in just 2 colors like blue and white or red and white.
