Summer Wind Kit
76″ x 76″
$119.95

This kit contains all the fabric for the quilt top, the pattern and the fabric for the binding. This pattern, Summer Wind is one of our favorites from Miss Rosie’s Quilt Company.  We packed the last patterns into these kits.  Scroll below to see this same design made out of different fabrics.

Hello Everyone,

Surely Spring will show up soon.  I have one little daffodil blooming in my yard.  Bad weather keeps us inside.  Sewing. And sewing.  And sewing…
What are we working on?
This weekend I pulled out a couple of bags with half finished blocks.  I know you have those too.  Some from the 1990’s.  It’s a point of pride to get those old UFOs finished. Hopefully, I’ll have some pictures by next week.

I know an obsession when I see one.  For years, every time we went to Metrolina Flea Market, I bought a bag of buttons.  (Do you miss going to the Flea Market as much as I do?) Sometimes I paid a little and sometimes I paid a lot.  Couple of weeks ago, I pulled all those bags out of drawers, closets, and old suitcases.  Then I started sorting.  Big ones and little ones.  Plastic ones and pearl ones.  Then I had to get some jars.  Just happened  to have some old peanut butter jars.  We got them at an estate sale.  $5/box. The big jar with the red lid was my grandma’s.  She kept her bacon grease in it.  Then I had to paint the lids.  BUT NOW, I have made order out of chaos.  There are many more jars of buttons than what you see here, but you get the idea.

Cindy is working on her sewing room.  As you know, we both live in old farmhouses.  Her sewing room had a chimney that ran up through the middle of it.  She had that taken out, had the floor fixed and cleaned up all the dust. Now she’s putting the shelves back in place, going through her stuff, and making order out of her chaos.

Call Cindy – 704-376-2531 if you would like to order anything or make an appointment to shop. Taxes and shipping will be added to orders. Remember, we do not have a shopping cart on our website.  If you need us for anything, call and make a shopping appointment.

Shopping Time
You can always make an appointment for any time that suits you by calling Cindy at the number above.  We would love to see you.  We are tired of talking to each other.  We will be “open” this Friday, Feb. 19, 2021 from 10 am – 4pm.  You don’t need an appointment, you can just drop in.  Call us if you need directions.  We are located off I-40 between Statesville and Mocksville, NC. We’ll take 10 % off any fabric pack, pizza,  or kit that you purchase this Friday.

Giving Back to Nature
Last week we talked about “Bark Butter” for the birds.  (One part lard, one part peanut butter and 2 parts plain cornmeal)  I answered more questions about lard last week than I have in my whole life.  So here is another “bird” idea.  Make a nesting supply station out of a whisk.

Buy a whisk at the $1 store.  Fill it with your rotary cutter slivers.  Once Spring arrives, hang in a dry place near where you feed your birds.  They will pull the slivers out and add them to their nests.  Make sure your fabric pieces are cut into small enough pieces that they can be pulled out.

Another Kit

When Harry Met Megan
76″ x 76″
$120.00
Kit contains all the fabric for the quilt top, the pattern and the binding fabric.  Pattern by Miss Rosie’s Quilt Co. Single patterns are available also – $9.00.

Quilt Show
I like to see what the same design looks like in different fabrics. Here are a few quilts to inspire your fabric choices.

Original name of this pattern was Open Door, by Miss Rosie’s Quilt Co.  Same pattern as the blue quilt above.

Summer Wind, the pattern we used for the kit at the top of the newsletter is one of my favorite patterns.  I wish it was still available.  Here are several versions of this pattern.

Blue and white version.  Notice the border print.

Come to see us on Friday.  We need some conversation.

Spend the day shopping for quilting fabrics, yarns for knitting, and wools for appliqué.  Books, patterns and notions will inspire you to create.  Shop for a new sewing machine or a long arm sewing machine.  Our vendors are quilt shops and knitting shops.  Some vendors dye their own fabrics and some “grow” their own yarns on their farms.  Some vendors design their own patterns and some just know where to order the “best stuff”.
There will be hourly door prizes and each day at 3pm, Sew Original from Winston Salem and Studio Stitch from Greensboro will be giving away a Bernina Sewing machine.  (You must be present to win a machine.)  Arrive early.  Be one of the first 100 people in the door, and you will get an extra ticket to win all day long.
Cafe 220 will be there with their fabulous food and Troyer’s Bakery will have delicious baked goods.
