Jack’s Chain

Hello Everyone,

All Carolina’s Shop Hop

We are preparing for our next event, The All Carolina’s Shop Hop.  For those of you that have never participated in a shop hop, let me explain how it works…
You get a couple of your friends and you travel from shop to shop.  At each shop you get a “stamp” on your passport and each shop will give you a free 4″ collectable quilt block with a unique “quilty” phrase printed on it. You will need to purchase the Shop Hop magazine to get a passport.  These magazines are available at each shop. Each participant needs a passport.  You have 2 months to visit all the shops.  This shop hop includes shops all over North and South Carolina.  At the end of November, you mail in your passports.  The more stamps you have, the more chances you have to win some great prizes.

What can you expect from a trip to our “barn”?  First of all, it’s not really a barn.  It’s a green metal building. But you really are on a farm.  You will see it on your right as you come down the hill on Page Farm Rd. Park your car anywhere.  Once inside, you will see all the fabrics that you usually see in our booth at a show.  We have lots of prints, from traditional styles like mid 19th century to contemporary prints like Kaffe and Tim Holtz. We carry a wide range of batiks as well.  We always stock a good variety of neutral background fabrics in cottons and batiks. We have made up a lot of new fabric packs.

We have also been going through a lot of vintage stock during our “covid time out”.  We have pulled out our vintage trims and embellishments.  We’ve pulled out all our buttons.  All our French Heirloom laces and eyelets are organized.  Plan to spend some time going through some random merchandise.  We’ll have a sale table with some wools on it.  There are some random things on a clearance table.

Shop Hop Hours

We will have regular hours at “The Barn” during the shop hop.  We will be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am – 3pm during October and November. We will also be open on two Sunday afternoons, October 24 and November 21 from 12:00-3:00 pm. You don’t have to be participating in the shop hop to come to the barn.  Other participating shops are open their own regular hours. Check your passport magazine for information about hours of operation for the other shops.  What should you do if you are traveling on a day we aren’t open? Give us a call, and if it is at all possible, we’ll make an appointment for you to stop by, shop a bit, and pick up your stamp and collectable block.  You can make an appointment to shop in the barn  by calling Cindy at 704-376-2531.  We’re available almost any time. We would love to see you.  Call us if you need directions.  We are located off I-40 between Statesville and Mocksville, NC.

Please note:  We will be closed on Saturday, November 13, 2021 for a wedding.  We will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

I can’t just leave things alone.  We are trying to plan some extras to make each weekend an event.  Here’s what’s happening so far:

Show and Tell – Friday, October 15, and Saturday, October 16, 2021.  Stop by about 11ish.  Bring a chair and you’ll get a chance to show off all your beautiful quilts.
I’ll announce more details for other weekends later.

Check it out tomorrow night on Facebook.

Quilting Classes

Our next quilting class will be Jack’s Chain.  The dates are tentatively February 25 or 26, 2022.  You’ve watched as Cindy stitched on this quilt all during the pandemic.  This will give you plenty of time to start your 9 patches.  The 9 patches are 3′ finished.  (3 1/2″ including the seam allowance)  We have the pattern and the hex and triangle templates available.

Guild Programs

Keep us in mind for programs for your quilting guild now that groups are starting to meet again.

Call Cindy – 704-376-2531 if you would like to order anything or make an appointment to shop.

Show and Tell

We enjoyed everyone at our quilting class last weekend.  Everyone makes such beautiful quilts. I don’t know the names of any of these quilts so just enjoy these pictures.

Spend the day shopping for quilting fabrics, yarns for knitting, and wools for appliqué.  Books, patterns and notions will inspire you to create.  Shop for a new sewing machine or a long arm sewing machine.  Our vendors are quilt shops and knitting shops.  Some vendors dye their own fabrics and some “grow” their own yarns on their farms.  Some vendors design their own patterns and some just know where to order the “best stuff”.
There will be hourly door prizes and each day at 3pm, Sew Original from Winston Salem and Studio Stitch from Greensboro will be giving away a Bernina Sewing machine.  (You must be present to win a machine.)  Arrive early.  Be one of the first 100 people in the door, and you will get an extra ticket to win all day long.
Cafe 220 will be there with their fabulous food and Troyer’s Bakery will have delicious baked goods.
